Jeff and Greg have approached their intent to eliminate financial despair on families and youth as a calling. Morris and Spencer have both been impacted by what they teach. Both Founders have dealt with personal financial anguish in their own businesses. In addition, their families have also suffered the pain, hopelessness, shame, guilt, and embarrassment of bankruptcies, foreclosures, job loss, unemployment, health issues, and relationship challenges.

As a result, Jeff and Greg have a personal passion for alleviating these issues in other families so that At-Risk children, young adults, and families will be able to experience a way out of despair when provided with a caring approach to financial wellness education and empowerment. They reject the notion that we live in hopeless and helpless times.

SpendSmart.org recognizes that the world, the nation, California, and San Diego County are being impacted by a continuing financial crisis that is disproportionally impacting individuals and families. Many who are disenfranchised, underserved, and at-risk, (including the working poor), are disproportionally affected by this predicament. We are committed to lessening the impact on these and other communities by providing transformative, unbiased, fun, culturally sensitive, educationally relevant, and impactful sessions & coaching services that are helping to eliminate the economic achievement gap.
